The Problems Our Kids Face
In Beaumont, Texas, many kids are growing up in tough situations. Poverty, crime, and a lack of resources make it hard for them to thrive. Most of the kids in our local schools come from low-income families, and over 90% of them rely on free or reduced lunch programs to get by.
The Impact of These Issues
These tough conditions have a huge impact on our children. In the 2018-2019 school year, almost 7,000 students in Beaumont were considered "at-risk," meaning they were in danger of falling behind or dropping out of school. The community also faces high crime rates, which adds to the stress and instability in these kids' lives.
Coach Rideau’s Mission
Coach Rideau “What About the Children” (WATC) is here to make a difference. We’re a non-profit organization dedicated to building a safe space for kids in Beaumont. Our planned facility will include a gym, a kitchen, a computer room, tutoring spaces, and more. We want to teach kids valuable life skills through sports, arts, and education. Our goal is to help them build self-esteem, confidence, and see that they can have a bright future.
Why We Need Your Help
There aren’t many places in Beaumont where kids can go after school to stay out of trouble and engage in positive activities. Our community needs a safe haven where children can learn, play, and grow. We’re counting on support from people like you to make this dream a reality. We need donations and support to cover the costs of building and running the facility.
